[Meta] Do paleos troll on vegan/vegetarian boards?

Answered on August 19, 2014
Created January 10, 2013 at 1:30 AM

Do paleos troll on vegan/vegetarian boards? If yes, can anyone post some links? I'm mostly curious if "our" trolls are more clever than "their" trolls. :)

UPDATE: I've spent some time reading vegan/vegetarian boards trying to answer my own questions before it's closed as offensive and/or off topic. I can't find any examples of paleos posting on them. I wonder though if maybe those boards are just more closely moderated and trolling messages are quickly deleted? Or maybe my sampling is not statistically significant?

Thanks. Yes - people with an open mind rarely troll. Very true.

Curriculum? I'm a HS English teacher and had a health teacher using my classroom one period last year. I walked in on her nutrition presentation, just at the slide that showed examples of "empty calories": sugar, soda, and butter. Sigh.

as 'entertaining' as he may be, as a fellow Aussie... I'm embarassed by him! no respectable human being would say half of the condescending remarks he makes. Always bashing on individuals like Wolf and Sisson in such a childish manner. I reckon all those bananas really have taken him back a step in terms of human evolution...

I was subscribed to him for a bit too.. something intriguing about the level of his conviction and his backhandedness when dealing with opposing views. I also love his stupid terms like "bro science".

Thanks. Yeah, it's strange. I too have wasted more time than I should watching his videos. I have an odd fascination with him. I know it would be extremely counter-productive to ever post anything on his blogs, so I never do.

Lol dude, ima be honest, sometimes I watch pro vegan YouTube videos when there's nothing funny to watch on tv. Durriander is usually a funny watch, along with Vegansmythe and Shel123ey. She's kinda cute and Vegansmythe has the funniest pro vegan songs.

Hah. Thanks. I've been searching youtube. I found this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6GLQhsf_OkE which doesn't really give great examples, but is amusing to watch (as long as your volume is not turned up too loud).

I'm honestly and truly curious. I would like to see what paleo trolling (on vegan/vegetarian websites) looks like. Or if it doesn't exist at all, then why not? I have no real problem with trolls here. Sometimes they're amusing and sometimes they're not, but as you say, I always just ignore them.

What is the point of your question? Many are, actually vegetarian and Paleo at the same time. Vegan-Paleo is harder, and concessions must be made, but it is not unheard of. If you feel someone is trolling, then ignore them and they will get bored and leave.

I see someone finds this question offensive. I apologize. I didn't intend it to be, and hopefully someone will explain how it is. I'm not sure anyone would dispute that there are trolls here? And based on the content of said trolls' questions and answers, it seems likely that many are vegetarian and/or vegan...

But, I don't think that matters. The people who troll tend to be the ones at the extremes, so they certainly wouldn't consider themselves in both camps at the same time, right?

Thanks - yes, of course aware of that. I actually have a question about that from a while back: http://paleohacks.com/questions/119140/what-turned-you-from-vegan-to-paleo But, the key word in your answer is _former_. Though the foods a raw vegan would eat are a subset of paleo foods, I don't think there is much if any overlap between people who (at a given point in time) consider themselves paleo and consider themselves vegan. Perhaps some small overlap with vegetarians.

It's tempting, oh so tempting Mike, especially with half the egotistical BS that comes out of the mouth of DurianRider... but I have better things to do with my time. Oh wait... I watched his videos... DOH!

Maybe. Probably. But you realize that many Paleos are also vegetarian or former vegetarians/vegans? The two aren't mutually exclusive.

I put a pro-Paleo post on one vegetarian website and they were cool with it. They said that as long as I respect their views they will respect mine. This sounds fair but feels so wrong.

For example, you are a teacher. And you have a student/colleague/principal who believes that 3 times 3 is 10 (just an example). You tell them that empirical studies confirm that it is 9 and hear - if you respect my view, I will respect yours.

Opinions/beliefs are fine BUT they have to be based on sound knowledge. I wonder why biology/health curriculum does not cover this topic? I blame the educational system for vegetarianism. If you teach kids in first grade that meat is good for you, that you are going to have all kinds of health problems if you remain a vegetarian, they are not going to believe some waco guru in grade twelve and start eating veggies all of the sudden.

Why nobody says anything about the dangers of fast food and soft drinks?

What I really like about Paleo people is that majority of them are very open-minded and are ready to learn, adapt, change their views/stance on different things.

But people with an open mind rarely troll. They understand where the other person is coming from.

Idk man, if you want to see paleo trolls the best place to go is YouTube, the thing though is, paleos don't really troll. They'll wind up on a provegan video and be like, Weston price this, animal fat that, fat soluble vitamins this meat that and then they get bashed so hard they pull a cartman(from south park) and say f*k this s*t I'm going home.. Lol. Vegans on the other hand are so wound up from depriving their body that they'll troll for days weeks and months on end, paleos, being more in balance IMO just dip as many vegan rebuttal trolls have paper thin arguments.
