reasons for a missed period (besides the obvious one)

I am on the pill and yet my period is over a week late. There is no chance I could be pregnant. I did start a new job recently, so I'm thinking stress might be the culprit. My weight has stayed the same. What might be some other possible reasons Aunt Flo hasn't paid me a visit?

Stress is usually the number one culprit. Over eating or changes in eating patterns, hormonal changes (not just the usual female hormones but also insulin, etc.), aging (are you in your mid-30's or older?), over-exercising, illness, changes in sleep patterns, and any other physical, mental or emotionals stressors.

Is this the first time this has happened? Have you changed your diet around or have been eating less than usual? Have you been working out more intensely? These could be 'stress factors' that the body is picking up on too. It does sound like it's stress induced. I wouldn't worry too much about it (as this would no doubt just cause more stress!).

You haven't been messing around with your pill or anything like that I'm guessing?

I'd say if you have a missed period for more than 3 months, that's when you should consult your doctor.
