Every few years I wake up dizzy and have to take dramamine. Normally it reduces dizziness, acts a like a sedative, and causes no other issues. I've been eating paleo for the last few months and took some dramamine earlier today. I'm still dizzy... (more)
I am really surprised with what seems to be an overwhelming support of vaccination in the paleo community. Why is this? Anyone who has researched the issue cannot deny there is a very deep debate about vaccines and the health conditions they can... (more)
Hey so I was about to take some Emergen-C cause I feel like poop. Lucky me, the first ingredient is 'cane sugar' should I just go buy some plain vitamin c or can I take this for a fast fix..I feel like death.
My gramma (bless her) used to have me drip hyrdogen peroxide in my ears and let it fizz away at the first sign of a cold. It always seemed to do the trick. I have begun doing this again recently but am plagued by the thought that it could be a... (more)
As a preventative measure for what? Put virtually any human being through a full-body MRI, and every one of them will have spots that look like they might be cancer, but aren't. I think it would be a waste of time and resources.
Freeform L-Lysine is pretty much going to be be 100% the same from every vendor. I've always liked Solgar when I can't decide between brands for various supplements. Also: don't just dose with Lysine -- make sure to keep Arginine low.
I have the beginnings of my first headache since going Paleo. (I used to frequently get atrocious hormonal migraines each month before starting my period; this current headache is no where near as bad, but the pressure/pounding is still... (more)
I wouldn't even describe myself as a cynical person, but at this point, I don't think it's possible to save the medical-pharmaceutical-agricultural food industry complex. I think it would be a waste of time, money and the health of people if we... (more)
How should we answer questions that may be beyond the level we should be dealing with? How do we know what that level is? (brought on by a particular question, but really applies to a lot of questions I've read here)
Just throw out the first thing that comes to mind, it's pretty silly to look for answers to serious medical questions at "Paleo Hacks," what's next "Hack My Brain Tumor"? People link to photos of their poop for God's sake.
What are your views on function medicine and naturopathy? If someone were sick would you send them to a functional doctor? What type of doctor might cause more harm for a diabetic?
As I mentioned in another post, I just started a course of antibiotics (Flagyl) - 9 big pills a day for the next 2 weeks. The taste they leave in your mouth is AWFUL and lasts all day, I can't get rid of it. From my google searches, the key... (more)
Whatever you do, do take a lot of fermented vegetables (or fresh yogurt), to replenish bacteria that those pills are going to kill. Also consider taking probiotic capsules for extra dose of bacteria. This will help you recover faster.
I broke down and took 2 store brand midol after not taking any for months and months. It's 5-6 hours later and I am sensitive to light, my vision is blurred, I'm exhausted and feel sort of nervous and floaty. I don't know how I managed to take... (more)
Leptin, arguably the most important hormone in our bodies, wasn't discovered until 1994. Uncoupling proteins(2-5) weren't discovered until the late 90s and their functions were being figured out in the early- mid 2000s. Pretty amazing considering... (more)
I just found this very cool show on Netflicks. This is as close to paleo TV as I have ever seen. It follows two physicians from London as they go to remote places around the world to see what the people there eat, the state of their health, how... (more)
Ok that's rhetorical but I've really been impressed lately by how totally failing to thrive most of the conventional physicians I know are. Is this anecdotal support for the failure of our mainstream medical model? Do you find the same or do you... (more)
My husband and I just started eating Paleo 2 weeks ago and are really enjoying it so far. I've lost 5 pounds and am feeling much better all around, however I know I'm not taking in nearly enough calories. I take Adderall for ADHD and it completely... (more)

I know this is a long shot and I know that if Grok had ulnar nerve entrapment, he'd be SOL, but is anyone familiar with any actual fixes or therapy for this, so I can avoid surgery? http://orthoinfo.aaos.org/topic.cfm?topic=a00069 for info on... (more)
Can anyone personally recommend a general practitioner in the Sydney area who is Paleo-friendly and uses integrative techniques ie extensive blood/lipid/hormone/vitamin testing, and encourages supplements.
I had a colleague of mine, who works abroad for the health industry, tell me that the plants of roots can cure many diseases, if not all of them some day. He stated it was due to rare compounds created in the roots of some plants. Does anyone know... (more)
Turmeric and ginger are both excellent roots that are fairly easy to find. Turmeric is a magnificent anti-inflammatory, and ginger works wonders for gastrointestinal complaints.
I have a 5 year old that has an ear infection. Of course the doctor prescribed antibiotics but we'd rather not. I'm wondering if we should use the antibiotics and give her some probiotics to help with the gut flora or just try garlic oil (or... (more)
