My GI has asked me to get a followup gastric emptying test done. This is a radioactive test but the amount of radiation is pretty trivial, close to an Xray I think. The question is, how should I prepare for this exam to minimize the impact of radiation? I think I read that Spirulina is supposed to be good. Is that what I should do and if so where should I get it and how much should I take when? I can't eat anything midnight onwards before the exam and it is at 1pm.

I've been working for a few months in a diagnostic radiology. I wouldn't worry much about that radiation. Every plane flight will expose you to a similar amount. Though it is correct that pilots have to give feedback about their time up in the air, they can do hundreds of flights within lifetime until the dose reaches a serious range.
Well, I can imagine that antioxidants such as vitamin c and e might be beneficial, but not really necessary.
