What if paleo diet is just a meat industry agenda?

Hey guys got me thinking, you know how people say the grain industry is up to no good with their GMO and patented grains pushing for outrageous amounts of money. What if the meat industry is fueling the paleo movement for higher meat/ animal product sales?

That's how they hook you: "Here's some pork, do you wanna pork?" St. Pauli Girl does the same thing with their girl and her "jugs o' libations." You went for it, right?

I spend less on meat than I did before, because I buy the cheapest, most nourishing cuts. Is there a pastured chicken liver lobby I don't know about?

The money in the meat industry is firmly with the feedlock/ intensive farming types of meat producers. Most definitely not Paleo.

Organic, grass-fed meat doesn't have th money and power behind it - so I think (at this stage) it's unlikely.

However - I'm sure as Paleo gets more and more popular the "meat industry" will jump on board and perhaps try to offer a spin about how their meat is Paleo. Who knows, perhaps some of them may even turn to more natural farming methods - a win win!

I think it's a coconut oil industry agenda. It's all Tropical Traditions doing. Seriously, their sales must be through the roof. Before 2010, I'd never bought anything coconutty outside of an Almond Joy. Now it's jars and jars of coconut oil and coconut milk. Sneaky coconut producers.

Yes, the big corn/grain-fed beef producers are encouraging you to buy locally grown grass fed beef.

The main point, noted above, is that the meat industry doesn't stand to benefit from a movement that's pushing pasture-fed, organic meat. They make money in volume, not in speciality. In a general sense, one could say the low-carb movement has benefitted various meat industries BUT I doubt many of them were suffering that badly prior.

So while there may be some ancillary benefit, if you were some evil meat industry genius, Paleo/Primal/et.al. is not the model you would have come up with.

Compare with the dairy industry; they're just pushing "drink milk" but not the kind of milk, whether it's fortified or not, pastuerized or not, etc.

Except the grain industry needs the lobbying to make us think wheat is good for us, when it actually makes most people feel like shit (whether or not they know it). On the contrary where meat is concerned.

Then the meat industry is failing because the Paleo Diet is not about meat. Meat is a component, but so are many other foods.

So what if it is? The "grain industry" isn't trying to poison us on purpose. It's just that the incentive structure is set up that they can make a killing selling that crap to us as "food". Whether or not there's a meat industry conspiricy to sell us more meat doesn't matter: meat is good for us* whether or not the man is involved.

*non-CAFO, grass-fed, blah blah blah.
