Questions about sustainability

How sustainable is this diet for your typical American pauper? Would a 90% vegetarian diet consisting of mostly plant foods w/ some meat be more sustainable or less sustainable? Is CAFO meat worse than GMO soy, or are they both likely to be just as detrimental when consumed?

I am on a dietary journey and have went from vegan to pescetarian to primal. Sustainability is a major concern of mine, but I am unable to buy a lot of organic food and do not have quick access to grass-fed meat. (Also, I would like to know if CAFO livers are chock full of toxins.)

I will see how well I can handle potatoes after my sugar detox. As for the milk, I think that would be best avoided in my particular case.

Thank you for your answer. I am guessing shrimp would be out of the question? If I can find some mussels, clams, or oysters, I think I will take you up on that advice.

You could go for the Irish approach - potatoes and milk. Add some free range eggs, sardines and occasional ground beef and liver and you're pretty much there. (Assuming you're ok with potatoes and dairy.)

Consider looking into a high-shellfish diet. Shellfish are sustainably farmed and, if you live coastally, often inexpensive.

Liver is where you want to splurge: when you eat organ meats, you want to eat them from the healthiest, most well-nourished animals: liver is a storage organ and will store according to the animal's diet.
