Other PaleoHackers from West Florida?

So I might be relocating out of state to Florida and whilst my lifestyle might change, I don't want my diet to! So is anyone here from Florida, especially West Florida, and where do you get your meat from? I wouldn't mind going to farms, but a headstart on where to look would be extremely helpful!

I get mine from Rosas Farm, too. They give discounts to crossfitters and members of their facebook page, which is awesome!

My husband and I live in Tampa-which IS West Florida! First off welcome to FL :) We get our beef from Whole Foods (all grass fed). We buy our Wild Alaskan Salmon from Fresh Market. We buy our Chicken (Free Range Organic) from Publix-They have the Murray's chicken breast packets in their Greenwise meat section. Also if you are looking for good Organic produce, Rollin' Oats offers that. Those are the top grocery stores in West FL. I'm sorry we don't buy our beef from any local Farms. Whole Foods purchases their beef from a farm in GA.

Well I am in Tallahassee, sort of North Central, but I might have some resources.

I don't always do grass fed but when I do it is from local stores that carry white oaks, deep roots and KBH Farms White Oaks Deep Roots KBH doesn't have a website that I know of but contact information is on this page

As you can see two of these are in North Georgia, the borders in North Florida are pretty porous so you might have more luck looking in GA or AL

Also if you do cheese look in to sweet grass dairy. Also in Thomasville GA and the product is just... yum.

Eggs are something I get by just asking around work and derby both got me egg hooks ups.

Rosa's Farm in Ocala They deliver free of charge to Tampa, Orlando, and some other cities. I live in Orlando now but am relocating to Atlanta in a few months. Right now I get my pastured eggs from a local farmers market, I can buy grass fed ground beef from Publix, they carry Maverick brand and White Oak from up in Georgia. Other meats I get from Whole Foods, or a local shop.

I live in the Tampabay area and buy all my beef, poultry, and pork from a rancher in Bradenton (about 45min-1hour south of Tampa)... the pricing is co-op (you basically buy a "share" of a steer or pig, divisible by 8ths for steer and 4ths for pig) and he is more than welcome to walk you around the place and show you the animals in their pre-grocery state. Website: http://thedamranch.net/

Downside - you have to ask for offal before placing the order as they usually process all offal into Dog/Cat feed (BARF Diet).

I am in south eastern Florida (West Palm area) but I drive several hours once every 4-6 weeks and get my meats from central Florida. There are several great farms in Florida, and produce is abound as well. What city will you be in?

I used to live in Central Florida, the Kissimmee/Orlando area. Not very much help to you I guess but someone else might come along and read this post so I will throw my .02 in.

There are lots of farmers markets, farms, CSA farms, and health food stores in the area. Chamerlins is a Florida health food store chain that offers meats. Lakeland has an awesome farmers market. Winterhaven has some great resources. THere is an awesome intentional community up that way that sells that the lakeland farmers market and a health food store in winterhaven.

There are a few Whole Paychecks dotting the Florida landscape as well.

Connecting up with the Florida slow food people, etc is a great way to find sources as well. You kind of have to work to find things but there is a lot of good food to be had in Florida if you do your homework.

Sorry I am not very helpful.
