Is two too many?

Answered on August 19, 2014

Is two porkchops daily two too many? I eat two pork chops everyday for lunch my friend (who is paleo) says it is too much pork on a daily basis, and is not good for me? I am hoping it's hogwash!

What do you guys think?

Yes the only thing I would comment on would be the possibility of getting too much Omega-6 for the pork.

Here in Sweden it's the chops that are cheaper and the chicken that is more. Hence why I eat so many, but also because they are yummy ;) that helps.

Normally I eat 3 to 4 eggs cooked in butter with feta (I know ...cheese) and (sometimes) bacon for breakfast when I am not fasting and salmon with veggies for dinner or tuna. My (kind of) cheats are: 86% chocolate, figs, and unsalted nuts. I only drink water and green tea

Uggla, he means the pigs were fed grains, which they probably were unless you're getting it from a local farmer.

I just eat the chops plain cooked in coconut oil with a little garlic powder and chili powder on them. No grains!!! And I do not eat many veggies. But the truth is I LOVE pork and bacon is natures candy, so to picture eating less of it really would make me a sad cave woman. ;)

I can only think of 2 possible negatives to having the same meal every day. First, there's a possibility that you might tire of one of your favorite meals. That'd be a shame. Second, variety limits our exposure to anything unhealthy that might be in one particular food. So in your case, if the pork was not raised optimally, varying your meals would limit your intake of anything you might prefer to avoid. Other than that, and admittedly those are small objectives, I'd say go for it.

On days I work out, I eat an entire small chicken for dinner. No one believes me because I've been losing weight doing this. If pork chops were cheaper, I'd eat four of them for dinner with fried eggs and tomatoes.

I think 10 pork chops a week, 14 if you eat them on weekends, probably is too much.

I don't usually worry about the Omega 6/3 ratio thing very much, but I also only eat 1 lb of bacon per week and probably 8oz of pork. I don't think you need to give it up completely, but what if you make it an every other day thing?

Hogwash! I love that!

I est pork in one form or another most days - either sausage or pork burger at breakfast, or bacon at lunch, or roast at dinner.

Mine is USUALLY free range and so not loaded with grains though...

Grain fed pork is relatively high in omega 6, thus leading to greater systemic inflammation. If eating grain fed, meat from ruminants (beef, lamb, mutton, buffalo) is generally better for you.

I love pork, bacon, sausage, etc., but try to eat it only a couple of times a week.
