Has anyone tried the Black Farmer range of sausages?

I love these sausages but am mildly worried about the addition of soya bean flour - should I be? In lieu of proper butcher bought fare, these don't seem too bad - anyone else tried them?

Than you... :) Definitely remaining as a part of 80/20. What's the thought on potato starch as a filler? I know I should be on "clean" meats [grass fed, local sourced sirloin this evening...] but sometimes I just get the call for sausages, and despite trying numerous times, I'm utterly useless at making them myself.

Back when I was just low carb instead of Paleo I used to eat them all the time as they were delicious and had a very high amount of good quality meat, with just the right amount of fat. Although I do miss them, I just can't justify eating such large quantities of processed soy (a goitrogenic antinutrient) on a regular basis. If I remember correctly, the sausages are 10% soy flour, and visualising the volume helped me understand why they would be problematic. My advice would simply be to enjoy them as the cheat part of your 80/20.

Are you in the UK or USA? They're available in the UK & we've had them in the past - we don't have as much soy/soya in things in the UK (yet). But, for us, we prefer Debbie & Andrew's gluten free sausages. They're high pork content and don't have much in the way of fillers. They do two different types of gluten free sausages too.

Our local farm shop will also do gluten free sausages too as well as most supermarkets having their own free from brands too - I find most of these have no fillers or have rice as a filler which I feel is preferable for my kids.

It's a personal thing though. And of bourse, depends on your overall consumption of soy/fillers etc.
