Hypercaloric diets and Meal Frequency? What works for you?

If I eat 3500 calories a day would a higher meal frequency be healthier than a lower one? Say, 2 meals of 1000 calories and one meal of 1500 calories vs 6 meals of about 580 calories. I often hear large meals digest slower, so they make you overall less energetic and sleepy throughout the day. Some claim they could be detrimental for blood sugar control, although there are many who say otherwise.

I know many here are against frequent small meals but are they required if you are eating so many calories and carbs? I personally feel better on 3 HUGE meals but my blood sugar is usually out of whack after, and my ankles get extremely sore (??). Eating small frequent meals makes me feel light as a feather, but I hate having hunger pains and eating every 2-3 hours.

* Could my ankles be sore after big meals because I raised my insulin to high and it somehow calcified? I think I read this somewhere, Paul Jaminet's book I think.

Gatorade? Go for coconut water for your electrolytes. That stuff is HFCS and crap!

Yeah a large amount of calories at night seems to work for me very well. I find I have a more restful sleep, especially if I eat a lot of carbohydrate. However, if I consume a lot of fat before bed, I can't seem to fall asleep. So I consume most of my fat during the day, and carbs at night.

I do about the same amount of cals but in two meals per day. A smallish lunch at about 800-1000 cals and then the rest at night, before bed. Although on training days I'll sneak in some gatorade and whey shakes pre and post. I like eating most of my cals at night.
