Cordain's "homebrew" recipe...

So I'm training for a marathon, and have considered modifying my paleo to the paleo for athletes method especially on long days and for dress rehersal days.

Has anyone used the homebrew recipies from said book with any success? Did you do it only on intense workout days, or all workout days? Any general feedback on that book versus the other paleo sources?

Drinking Cordain's or anyone's moonshine before a marathon probably ain't wise. ;)

This question would be a lot more helpful if you said what Cordain's homebrew is.

Lou, if you are training for a marathon, why are you eating low carb? Nothing in Paleo says low carb. As a runner, I eat several pieces of fruit a day and am quite liberal with the coconut cream.

I've not tried the homebrew of Cordain, but find I can work with honey pretty well. But I don't use anything until I'm up to 16 miles or so (3+ hours) except water.

For electrolyte, diluted juice with a bit of salt thrown in works well.

If you are referring to the homebrew pre-post workout meals, I use them every day. I have a few ounces of organic applesauce and 1/2 a cup (the cup that comes with the powder) of protein powder a few minutes before my morning workout. Immediately after the workout, I have a banana and ~16oz of organic apple juice with a full cup of protein powder. Very effective; I feel like I recover well.

I know nothing of what you are asking sorry, however, being new to paleo and training for marathon also, I would be keen to jump on this question line please? I am presently suffering the low carb flu dramatically and I am worried I will never have the energy to run as I did whilst 'carbing up' for long distances.
