Anyone else excited about Mammoth revival?

Part of the problem with emulating a Paleo lifestyle is that we can't eat the same foods that our ancestors eat since those animals are extinct. Looks like maybe that restriction will disappear at some point. Anyone else excited by this prospect? :) I wonder what it tastes like!

they could have made mammoth bone broth with the marrow from that thigh bone, but no, they decided to take the stem cells out and fiddle with the DNA instead... typical scientists. Geez.

Tastes like chicken! Sorry, old Henny Youngman joke. :-))

Sadly, even if the science breakthroughs occur I don't see a good outcome.

What will happen?

  • sad, captive herds in food lots
  • Franken-meat with mammoth genes grown in vats

Maybe it WILL taste like chicken.

Hmm, how ironic. We in the Paleo community are usually against GMO and here we are excited about the idea of eating mammoths that have been cloned into existence. I'm still on the fence about this. I do wonder what grass-fed mammoth would taste like but given the implications of cloning... I dunno.

*Edit: I think the widely-accepted view is that cloned animals are safe to eat. Just my personal say in that I'm gonna hold off on eating something that was extinct...
