Magnesium Citrate supposed to be "not sour"?

I got the Now Foods Pure Magnesium Citrate powder. After mixing it with water and drinking it, it tastes sour.

But, if you do not drink it immediately, and wait for 2 minutes, the taste is NOT Sour. Is this normal? I thought magnesium citrate was supposed to always taste sour?

I'd guess it's probably not fully dissolved when you first drink it so you get particles of of mag citrate hitting your tongue, dissolving, and making a very high local concentration, something very noticable. When fully dissolved it's much more dilute and you don't notice the sourness.
