I'm wondering whether it's worth getting a report from 23 and me about my DNA/genes/ancestry?
I like eating low carb paleo and feel great eating this way, i stay effortlessly lean, have enough energy to workout to my desired level, but i still wonder whether it's the best diet for me as it's so far from what i was used to, which was plenty of sugar, starch/grains, dairy etc... i've also have cases of heart disease, cancer and alzheimers in my recent family tree.
My doctor won't allow me a full NMR profile of my cholesterol as it's only slightly high, so i'd like to reasearch as much as i can without going private to have whatever health checks i'd like done at a huge cost.
Will getting a report from 23 and me actually help me make lifestyle/dietary choices or isit just something people do out of curiosity? Are there actually clearly defined diets that apoe vairants should or shouldn't eat? Are there other reasons beyond apoe status that makes this a worthy investment?
Thanks in advance for your opinion :)
