I have tried to do the potato diet recently but the potatoes plain after a day or two really are just nasty. This is VERY weird for me to say because I LOVE potatoes, but unless there's a little flavor to them I can't eat them. My question is, besides the gut flora benefits of the pure potato fast, if it's all about the low calorie intake the potatoes cause, can't you just eat a normal low calorie paleo diet short term? Like I was thinking coffee in the morning and a potato with T of butter at lunch and a steak salad at dinner? That's about a 500 calorie day but MUCH more palatable in my opinion. People also say because the diet is pure starch the weight loss happens faster than regular calorie restriction but I'm not sure I totally buy that. A 500 calorie paleo plan I would think would produce just as good results as a 500 calorie potato diet plan, and would be more enjoyable. I don't know what do you guys think?
BTW: I am JUST wondering/curious. Not looking to get bashed, just thought this thought could be explored since the "potato diet" has been on the rave lately
