Low Estrogen in Young Women - higher DHEA

Hello All,

I finally received my blood work and hormones after 6 months off the Pill. I've been using Bio-Identical progesterone during this time.

I have low estrogen, out of normal range, and my DHEA is still in normal range but has increased since my last blood test 4 months ago.

Just wondering if I should start using Bio-Iden Estradiol? Or what I should do?

27, female, fit, Paleo diet, History or : PCOS, Eating Disorder, pre-puberty excessive exercise (junior national level triathlete)

really looking to get my hormones in a good place...What will I gain from upping my estrogen? What is the best way to do this?

Thanks!

yep I did; not too much because some muscle went to fat but I realized that I needed to be heavier to be healthy anyways. Every body has a feel great weight - you just need to find it and then your hormones will sort themselves out.

I would suggest you get a saliva hormone panel done. The hormones in your blood aren't indicative of what's available to actually use. You will probably find different values in your Saliva which will show the hormones that are actually being used. I wouldn't suggest any young woman take estrogen supplement, and especially synthetic.

I second not using synthetic hormonal supplements--too dangerous--and also recommend the saliva test. If you decide to use anything, make sure it is plant based and not synthetic. It takes time to balance. There is a great formula called Female+ from herbdoc.com Ask for the book about balancing hormones. It is free. You may be able to read it online. Call the 800 number and ask. I've been using his products for years and many women I have worked with have used these herbs with great results.

I am in the exact same situation except I am 21. I took estrodial for 4 months and it did nothing except give me mood swings and rashes so I stopped taking it. I do not get my period anymore and haven't since I started the progesterone pill. The doctors don't have any answers but just recommended the synthetic estradiol to prevent osteoporosis. I have no idea what to do!

I am the same age, dealing with this same exact issue. Glad to know I'm not alone, but would really like to find some answers.
