Was Robb Wolf duped? Does he have an “Agenda”?

A number of folks just dismissed what I had to say on this, assuming I had no familiarity with the Phinney/Volek work, that I was ???out to lunch??? on the topic. That???s certainly your right if you are in that camp, but you are a boner for making that assumption. Instead of making assumptions folks might have asked me ???Hey Robb, do you ever see an argument for a LC intervention while training???? to which I???d say, ???Sure, when we are in the aerobic base building phase for an endurance athlete, I can make an argument for going pretty LC, perhaps even ketogenic to improve the totality of fat mobilization for fueling. But, that will be a specific block of training and then I will shift macros and training to bring up the anaerobic engine, then taper to prepare for completion.???

I do not normally toot my own horn, but the commentary about me surrounding this piece was nasty enough that a little GFY ??is in order for a few folks. I am always game for looking at facts and debating, but if the best a person has is a Straw Man attack on me???C???mon.

Smashing shouty stuff from the Wolf, what say you?

IMHO, the "shouty stuff" is very immature; it won't help him sell more books. Very unprofessional.

Just added the third link for posterity. Also I asked this question originally so that people would read it, not necessarily to get any answer. I'm just that kind of guy.

Only if it's vegan luminaries vs paleo luminaries. Otherwise, I'm not gonna watch.

Requested for this quasi-question to be removed, because the point was to get people to read his posts rather then ask for answers.

'Tis one of the reasons I actually like Robb, he may not be right all the time but for a clever guy he comes across as someone who just wants to get on with it, versus be a posterboy.

Of course he has an agenda. We all do. His agenda, in my view, is to help people learn from his mistakes, and to take the path of science, to find out what works well, and use that for the betterment of humanity - if they're willing to listen. If not, well, that's evolution in action for ya.

That, and to sell books, seminars, paleologix, etc. It's all in his posts and podcasts, etc.

Slow day, only two new paleo soap opera posts today.

My proposal to settle these disputes is that the next paleo convention will have a deathmatch of death to the death in a bamboo cage of death hanging by a burning death rope suspended on top of a snake infested pit of death to settle all these petty disputes the way they were settled in the paleolithic period. The resulting youtube videos would be much more engaging and rewarding than reading about yet another paleo drama on the internets.

Hell, I would become a paleo luminary just so I could take part in the matches!

Bottom line.

  1. Ideally, ALL OF US would care about health. We would pay attention to how we feel, what we eat, activities we partake in and every once in a while, get some objective numbers (blood work, physicals, etc...) to compare.

  2. Ideally, ALL OF US would continue to educate ourselves and make changes to better optimize #1. Nobody would have to rely on medicine, diets, supplements or specific diet, training or other plans. We would all have our own that worked for US.

  3. Realistically, our world is far too complicated, stressful, busy and quite frankly, filled with "more interesting" things. People don't do this. They rely on books, movies, websites and other forms of media to copy.

This is the beauty of Paleo. Whether it's Robb Wolf, Loren Cordain, Mark Sisson or anyone else, everyone should have their own guide called insert their name prescription. It would be a constant working script and wouldn't fit perfectly for anyone else.

Not having an agenda is an agenda. Raydawg is correct, everyone has one, even if yours is not to have one.
