Organic licorice candy ? (100% licorice extract)

So I went to the organic store and saw this little box contaning about 100 tiny licorice pellets. It's sugar-free, gluten-free and made with only one ingredient : 100% licorice extract. So it's not exactly a candy : they taste really strong and are hard to chew.

I suffer from adrenal fatigue so I thougth it would be good to buy them because licorice is supposed to support the adrenals. But I'm not that sure because I'm following a low-carb diet/low GI and I don't want to ruin my progress (I have insulin resistance).

So, in that case, are they ok or not ?

In fact I'm not on a very low carb diet, it's more a moderate carb diet (70-85gr/day). I tried a real low carb diet before and felt really tired, so I know it's not good at all.

i think licorice is supposed to 'boost' cortisol. so prob ok if you have low cortisol. but best avoided if you have high cortisol.

you can get deglycyrrhizinated licorice (dgl) which does not affect cortsol (used for other things i think).

Just FYI: low-carb is often detrimental to those with AFS.

Well if they aren't sweetened them I'm to assume they are low carb, unless you know otherwise. That being said, No, eating a low carb snack will not delay any progress you've made on a low carb diet, since the snack is, well, low carb.

Eating a low carb diet to help hypothyroidism is another story though. Maybe natural hormones like armour (if a doctor will prescribe based on your labs) or t4 may help.
