Is it possible to do a carb cycle that is Higher one day (Lifting day) low the next (On a rest day) Or does it have to be 3 days higher (Work out days) and 4 days low (rest/walking/moveslow day) I want to try carb cycling but I need a rest day in between heavy lift days because I used to have adrenal fatigue.. Im 23 135 pounds 5'4' Female.

Yeah, that's more of a refeed strategy where you are only doing two high-carb days/week. Sounds interesting though and I might try it! I'm on a Leangains high-carb workout days, low-carb off days.

That schedule would be more for fat loss though. If you just want to maintain or gain, I'd do higher carb days on lifting days and lower carb days on rest days. Pretty sure that's the way most people go about.

Personally, for me it works better to do lower carb days consecutively and then higher carb days interspersed with one low carb day in between. Say M-TH low carb, FRI high, Sat low, and Sun High. This way you can really deplete your glycogen stores throughout the week, and then top em off on friday, burn off any excess Saturday, and then retop them again Sunday so you can begin the week fresh and gradually drain your stores. By Friday your insulin sensitivity will be wicked high, especially if you pair this with intermittent fasting and the carbs you eat will go to all the right places.

that is just what has worked for me. Hope it helps.

Yes, high-carb on workout days and low-carb on rest days is basically a Leangains-style protocol and is the default way to do things. I don't know of anyone who goes high-carb for 3-days in a row and then low-carb for the rest of the week or things of that sort.

You can do whatever you like, we won't excommunicate you. Sort out your schedule, eat carbs if and when you need to to be able to stick to that schedule.

I'm def looking to loose fat, so I'm a little confused. I feel higher carbs on work out days(about 150) and lower (about 75) on rest days would work for me on an every other day kind of approach. I don't do well if I lift heavy a couple days on a row so I need as off day in between. But I'm not sure about this for fat loss?? Sunday-lift heavy-150-200 carbs Monday-move slow-75 carbs Tuesday-lift heavy-150-200 carbs Wednesday-move slow- low carb And so on.. Would this work for fat loss? And should I keep the carbs more of a starchy tuber as opposed to fruit?

Thanks!

When I did a ckd protocol similar to Lyle McDonald's protocol, I had gym days 3 days a week and a long strongman training session on saturday.

So here is how I worked it out...

Sunday - Thursday eating VLC, small amount of carbs post workout (tablespoon of honey) except after depletion workouts (tabatas and circuits on Monday).

Friday - Saturday High carb, low fat, high protein throughout the day, until Saturday evening. Lots of fruit and yogurt smoothies with whey added, etc... my "cheat" usually was my friday dinner, pizza and beer or something similar.

This worked very well for fat loss - my guts would be absolutely wrecked by Sunday though
