How am I losing weight?

It is not bothering me or anything, but I've been losing weight pretty steadily. And I'm already a fairly lean guy. I've eaten a jar of almond butter in 2 days, along with tons of coconut oil and sweet potatoes. So not even like low calorie paleo foods. I've also enjoyed some free range bison, eggs, etc. How could I be losing weight? Strange!

Low cal vs high cal is BS, it's all good cal vs bad cal

I wouldn't overdo the almond butter. I used to down that stuff like crack during my Crossfit days and I'd regret it each time (I could not eat only a tablespoon; that's ridiculous). If you're a very active athlete, I'd say GO TO TOWN on roots & tubers of any sort. You mentioned sweet potatoes, but there's such a wild world of starchy goodness out there! Yucca, tarro, parsnips, oh my!

They tried an experiment to fatten cows with coconut oil. It didn't work. The cows got leaner.

If you are just starting out and are eating lower carb, you could be just losing some water weight. Check back in a week for a reassessment.

I have lost weight around my belly (waist size and weight) and I am often above my caloric recommendation. (Though sometimes even, sometimes below, guess it should technically be maintaining weight, but its not)

If you previously had a bit of belly fat, it could have been because of metabolic syndrome/insulin resistance, and than could be shifting because your lower carb now. Plus being a fat burner means its easier to use stored fat I perhaps. Not that I know for sure, I am just learning about metabolism myself.

But if your eating loads of sweet potatoes, perhaps thats not it?

Just a guess...

I am a very active athlete as well, so that must be the cause. I find certain healthy fat foods a bit addicting, such as almond butter and coconut oil. I feel like I am overeating them. Should I try to manage my intake of healthy fats, even coconut oil? I could go through a jar so quick that it kind of worries me.
