Questions for Dr. Loren Cordain

Answered on August 19, 2014
Created October 02, 2011 at 7:36 PM

I will be hearing Dr. Cordain speak later this month and at the end there will be a 60 minute Q&A session. If you had this opportunity, what would you ask? One thing I really would like to ask is what have been the most major changes in his recommendations since he wrote the Paleo Diet. I also would like to hear his opinion on the theories concerning obesity being thrown around. Any other thoughts?

This is the same problem many alternative health practitioners or even counter CV run into....follow the money :) Seriously it cost a whole lot to get a large subject base and follow up on them. Quite a dilemma when you are voting on funds to go towards ...say "cures" for cancer (yeah right)....or touchy feelly "wellness" type of interventions......infuriating isn't it?

That's a good one. Have you seen anything he has written recently that I can refer to?

Ask him why is still worried about Saturated fat. It aggravates me because he is very incongruent on it in my view.

Ask him what percentage of time hunter-gatherers were in a state of ketosis. Of course it would depend on the culture but I would bet it might be more often than most people talk about.

Ask him if he knows of or plans to participate in any actual controlled studies of Paleo vs. SAD vs. vegetarianism. The biggest problem Paleo faces right now is that it doesn't have enough clinical research done on it, nor any controlled studies on participants.
