Vitamin A toxicity

At what point does vitamin A become a real problem. 10,000IU is listed as the tolerable upper limit.

I had 1-2 tsp (didn't measure well) of cod liver oil in my yogurt 3-4oz of beef liver pate 4 eggs

etc... all told Fitday says in the area of 1100% or 28,000IU.

I do supplement Vitamin D if that makes a difference.

Michael - Habit. Liver is relatively new to me, Cod liver oil was a long standing staple. Never really thought about it till I put my food in fitday. I like the lemon CLO in plain 15% greek yogurt w/ berries.

I'm wondering why you supplement w/cod liver oil given that you eat pate? I'm not saying it's wrong; I'm genuinely curious, since I'm one of the lucky few who like beef liver and have been wondering whether I should limit my CLO.

It isn't deliberate. I just really love liver pate and eggs. Combine that with 1tsp of cod liver oil (lemony goodness) and you are there.

Is there a particular reason you are ingesting so much Vit A? Also, be aware of the differences in the type and max dose of Vit A, retinol vs carotene.

I've taken up to 50k daily for a long time. Just don't go higher than 100k IU...

I was sick today so I supplemented about 50,000 IUs. We'll see if I'm alive tomorrow.Toxicity general doesn't typically start until 100,000 IUs and seems to be dependent on vitamin D status.
