Late Meals and Liver Function

Any thoughts on the validity of late meals -- 9:30PM or later -- negatively impacting liver function? I tend to eat only 2 meals per day but because of work, my evening meal (the biggest) is late. So I have a small meal around noonish and then my jumbo late meal. My weight remains stable and I sleep just fine. My husband's co-worker is studying Traditional Chinese Medicine and he is convinced that heavy late meals are awful for the liver and kidney function. Diabetes runs in my family and this guy said that I'm asking for trouble eating so much late at night even though I'm normal weight. I've never had a problem show up in labwork indicating a liver or kidney problems. I'm also getting more interested in Dr. Kruse's leptin insights and am going to try to make my evening meal completed by 7:00PM or earlier but it's tough because of work so I'll really have to rearrange things. Anyone have any thoughts about the validity of late meals being bad for the liver and kidneys? PS: I eat low carb.

When judging the "lateness" of a meal, how important is the time you go to bed? Are we talking about eating x hours before laying down, x hours before sleeping, or is it the absolute time that somehow matters?

Saw that but dont think it addresses leptin? Of course its kind of like any of this....where are you physiologically at this point of your life? Thats the determining factor of whether a late night meal is bad or non-issue for you. Given your normal weight and no previous issues I wouldnt see a problem, but I previously considered a late meal between 6-8. Post 9:30 seems like pushing it to me.

With all due respect, this sounds like ancient Chinese Broscience to me. Unless your organs have unionized or something, they better be working 'round the clock.
