Are there any dangers for a pregnant woman who eats liver?

In Sweden we have this corrupt authority on nutrition called "Livsmedelsverket". I think it's the equivalent of the FDA.

Anyway, they recommend pregnant women to avoid eating liver because of it's high contents of vitamin A. Would this be true even if you supplement with vitamin D(5000 IU/day)? Or are there nothing to worry about at all with the high vitamin A contents of liver?

Probably more dangerous to not eat any at all. Interestingly, my mother says that the only time in her life when she was compelled to eat liver was when she was pregnant.

I'm currently 33 weeks pregnant and have been eating 2 to 4 oz. of liver once or twice a week the entire time. My labs show no elevated levels.

I regularly recommend liver to my pregnant clients--as long as they are not also taking cod liver oil.

I also make sure that they are sunning or supplementing sufficient D, eating hard cheese & butter for more K2 and taking a Magnesium supplement.

As MathGirl said, up to 4 oz 1-2x a week of liver is fine!

I know that cod liver oil can induce natural abortion. I would think there is a safe amount of liver to eat.
