Parkinson's Disease and ketogenic diet!?!

Hello,

I have been paleo for a few months now and am enjoying the results. My Uncle was recently diagnosed with early stages of Parkinson's Disease. I have done some research on the benefits a ketogenic diet could have, and how it may help to slow progression and lesson symptoms. I have only been able to find a few articles here or there but no conclusive studies. I did find a clinical study in progress from the UK.

Do you know of any good sources or alternate places I could find some information on this. Even personal success stories would be great! I am working on collecting data to show him and hoping that he might give it a try.

Thanks, Hannah

Look in to getting him a 23andme.com test.....People with Parkinson's usually have altered methylation that slows their ability to recycle dopamine and he may have some COMT snp's and be magnesium deficient. Ketogenic will help but you must re build his pentose phosphate pathway to re establish his bio energenic substrates in his mitochondria to make the ATP to fuel the dopamine recycling.
