lymphoma and ketosis

I've been in ketosis since April, feeling great! Than started having some stuff start to happen physically. Made some adjustments and felt better. Than about a week ago, started to have pain in spots. Upon touching those spots, I'd find a lump. Like a small pea. Painful. Over the next few days, started to develop more, lots more. Long story short and to the point, Dr thinks they ate glands that are swollen. They are under my ribs, abdomen breasts. Different sizes, some bigger. Some are hard some more fluid like, all painful. I am scheduled for an MRI on the 19th. They think this might be lymphoma. Any info would help with research on this would be awesome. Thanks

Anon, thank you, this info is great! Lipids being transported through the lymph system, wow. I have been on a paleo diet since Jan of this year, in keto since April to manage my chronic migraines and the pain from having fibromyalgia.. Both were helped 100% and I was very excited to be living a life free of both! Until this. :( Thank you so very much for leaving me a comment and for the info.

Thank you so much for your comment. It is a comfort! Waiting is hard and with every twinge I imagine the worse. Monday feels so faraway. Infection I can handle. :)

Hi Susan, It is good you are scheduled for an MRI just to rule out the worst case scenario, you won't really know for sure what is going on until you have the proper testing and it is better to err on the side of caution with something like lymphoma.
Having said that, MOST (not all) lymphomas present with painless lymph node swelling because MOST (again, not all) lymphomas grow slowly and give the capsule surrounding the LN time to expand. Infections tend to cause painful lymph node swelling because the dramatic and swift lymphoid response to the infection does not give the capsule enough time to stretch and accomodate the expansion. So, it would be more worrisome for lymphoma if your had painless LN swelling.
Again, the only way to know for sure is to have the MRI but I hope in the meantime this may make you rest a bit easier.

Good luck.

As a person who had lymphoma on a standard sugar filled diet, I would be very surprised if you had lymphoma, but you'll find out for sure after the MRI. I didn't have pain in my lymph nodes when I had it, and it was a slow steady growth over time. I do have flareups in my glands every once in a while, but those are sudden and last a few days to a few weeks. I'm always checking, but I can tell it's different than cancer. Hard to explain unless you've been through it.

My alternative doctor (because I need a standard and a free thinker to get the right mix) told me that lipids are transported through the lymph system or something like that. If you are relatively new to this diet/lifestyle and are having these issues with your dietary change, you might need to ease off a little bit to get your body used to the new fat transport load. I had to ease into increasing the fat into my diet or I'd have some serious, uh, let's just say bathroom emergencies. Some people here can make immediate radical changes and feel great, but some of us take a little time.
