Carb level is kind of an individual thing. There are lots of people who eat that way and seem to do well, so go on how you feel. I will say though that it's important not to sacrifice your health in order to lose weight. Especially when we're only talking about 25lbs.

It will still substantially slow the metabolism and mess up hormones to eat that little.

Overweight folks generally have excess fat and lean mass that supports that fat mass.

you can still eat leafy green vegetables like spinach, chard, lettuce, and broccoli, which are high in fiber and low in "absorbable" carbs. Also consider coconut/coconut flour. It's high in fiber and low in carbs. If you're worried about consitpation, consider that ketogenic diets are high in fat, and contrary to what conventional wisdom would like to believe, fat help move things along.

If you are trying to lose weight on 400 kcal per day, your metabolism will slow to a snail's pace, and you will not just lose fat, but will certainly lose lean muscle mass as well. Just eat real foods that will allow your metabolism and hormones to get in balance.

Hi Uma is this the response in question? If so, I believe Rob has edited his response and his friend did not in fact eat so low in calories.

I think eating that low in calories is dangerous and I wouldn't attempt it. Here is a thread that may be of more help to you:

Fiber isn't needed for elimination despite what some might say. There are some people that do get backed up on a high fat diet though, and if this is the case for you it may be a good idea to back off and increase carbohydrate a little if nothing else is working. There are some good questions and answers on the site about constipation. You can use the search bar in the top right.

Hope this helps you out some and Good luck!

Eat dates, bananas, and Whole (including the seeds/core) apples, at least 5, 1, 1 a day, respecively. and don't forget to drink lots of water.

that should help you achieve healthy bowel movements whilst keeping you in ketosis.
