Fellow Low-Carbs, how yellow is your urine?

I'm in Ketosis constantly and I notice that my urine, especially in the morning, is SUPER deep yellow. Like multivitamin-runoff yellow.

I hydrate myself at the watering hole (my kitchen) in the morning. I try to sip water or ginger tea throughout the day. Since ketosis is obviously dehydrating (lose all that water weight), I replace lost water by drinking regular filtered water with a pinch of sea salt (my own version of Gatorade) or coconut water.

But for the most part, when in ketosis, my pee never really gets as watered down as when I'm not in glycolysis.

Just what Justin said above. You're probably have lots of riboflavin in your system. Nothing to worry about. Things like liver have lots of it in it, and most vitamin supplements include a lot of it too.

Hmmm no, I have never experienced any cramps. And many times I will go hours without sodium if I eat one meal/day

@Desmonds Have you experienced that small muscle cramps can occur during the day when it has been some time since you've last had sodium but have been drinking a lot water in the meantime? I sometimes get a minor cramp like feeling very late in the afternoon when it has been >4-5h since I've last had sodium but on the other been drinking a fair amount of water.

No just general comment about ketosis

Do you mean that very dark/yellow urine is a sign of sodium depletion or are you making a general comment about that ketosis increases the need for sodium?

Are you taking supplements? Sounds like not a multi-vitamin but perhaps Vitamin B?

Urea, the chemical that makes your pee yellow, is a ketone body that forms when you are minimizing carbs or fasting. So you see, it is normal to have yellow pee in ketosis. Heck, it is normal to have yellow pee when you are not in ketosis. Pee is normally yellower in the morning and lighter throughout the day as you get more hydrated.

You probably need MORE sodium. If you only add a "pinch of sea salt", that doesn't seem to be enough. Add more salt to your foods as well (this was a fun part of ketosis for me)

Mine is very yellow too even though I drink 1.5-2l of water/day.

I do seem to have noticed that it becomes 'less-yellow' when I eat less protein. I'm not sure how much of an effect there actually is from less or it's me seeing things which aren't there.
