When you eat something, your blood goes to your stomach and intestines to aid in digestion. So if you work out on an empty stomach your blood can go to your muscles. Post-workout your HGH will be increased by up to 500% (if you trained with high intensity) and will stay high for a good 90-120 minutes. Then drink your kefir. Or you can drink your kefir before your work out and have your digestive system compete for blood with your muscles.

i think that would yield the same result? if i worked out first than drank my kefir the blood would not be in my digestive but circulating in my muscles mostly.. im not trying to impede my digestion at any cost..

I agree 2 hours is usually the recommended waiting time. It also may be helpful to do a less stressful exercise such as Pilates. Pilates can actually help your digestive system. On the other hand something like running might be harmful as it messes with your colon.

Why not work out first and then consume the kefir sometime after your workout? But if you're going to stick to eating before you train, I guess I would say a good two hours would be plenty. I usually wait 12-18 hours after I eat before I work out.
