Background: I started paleo about 4 months ago and never felt better in my life. I ate nothing but wild fish, grass-fed beef, kale salads, free range eggs, organic coffee, and other veggies from time to time but mostly meat. I was also intermittent fasting until noon and not eating after 8pm.
Now: For Christmas I bought a vitamix. I cut out the meat, took a break from intermittent fasting and started making variations of kale, sweet potato, swiss chard, spinach, carrot, celery, pumpkin, cucumber, apple smoothies/soups. I would add a little grass fed butter to the soups but otherwise the shakes were pure veggies and maybe an apple. I saw so many benefits from veggie fasting (e.g. Fat Sick and Nearly Dead on Netflix) that I thought a couple weeks with more veggies might bring me to a new level of health.
Instead, I became violently sick, red eyes, constipated, and gained weight. I have a strong pain in my lower left side. I'm obviously going to stop this new regiment but I'm so curious if anyone had a similar issue? I used mostly greens so keep my sugar so I'm wondering if I overdid my oxalic acid intake. I would really like to use the vitamix more as long as it doesn't kill me. :)

You went from eating a well balanced diet to drinking veggie shakes for every meal?
This one is simple. Eat your calories.

Well, first, how much coffee were you having, and did you cut that out abruptly? Maybe you were having withdrawal, which can sometimes produce very severe symptoms and is the reason one might want to taper off slowly before a cleanse.
Another possibility is there is a vegetable or fruit that you are intolerant of, maybe one of the starchy foods? After excluding it for a long time, adding it back it caused your immune system to freak out and produce major inflammation and intestinal distress, especially if the vitamix didn't cook it sufficiently. Try stopping the soups until you feel normal and then just making them from ingredients you are already used to having, like even if its just cucumber soup, and then every two days, add a new ingredient.
Another possibility could be some kind of machine contamination -- did you use it for anything else?
Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead was really inspiring to me too, good luck in your quest! :)
