Does taking iodine wipe out the friendly bacteria taken via kefir?

I have been reading about the antibiotic, antiseptic and anti viral properties of iodine here

http://curezone.com/blogs/fm.asp?i=1413057

here

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antiseptic

and here

http://www.naturalnews.com/022800_antibiotic_antibiotics_infection.html

and wondered, does iodine then kill the beneficial bacteria that I have been getting from kefir and sauerkraut? I have been intrigued by all of the anecdotal stories of the benefits of iodine supplementation and wonder if they are outweighed by the effects on beneficial bacteria? Does anyone have any ideas on this please??

In that pdf it says 'weight gain can be a symptom of taking a lot of iodine due to the body detoxing'. It may actually be too high an iodine intake trashing the thyoid and inducing a hypo state...

andrew, i just ordered some iodine for the purpose of killing c diff, and according to a few sites i've read, it does not kill good bacteria. here is a link to one. i actually plan on doing iodine enemas since i've heard they kill all the bad bugs in your gut.
