i am a 24yo female, 5'4 110lbs. i like the idea of IF and windows of eating for time efficiency and am trying to become fat-adapted right now. is it a bad idea to be going long periods of time without eating if i don't have much body fat?

Agreed. Pick an eating vs non eating window that works for u and stick with it 90% of the time. It helps to regulate the body.

You might have some difficulty eating enough to maintain, but if you can eat enough, then you should be okay. (Noting the links in CD's answer, of course.) After all, Martin Berkham still does IF and he is not trying to lose weight.

Actually, 12 hour fasts are recommended for women. The self-healing effect of a fasted state, makes IF worth while for anyone

I don't see how it would help you not lose weight. Fat adaption takes time; you cannot rush it. Just eat low carbs for a week or so and you'll be there. Fasting will not really help things along, it's just a handy way for people to force lower carb intakes (by allowing fewer chances to eat them).
