Intermittent Fasting: Exercising during my eating window time??

Hi you guys! I want to experiment with IF because I've had many people tell me it's great for fat loss, and I recently hit a plateau. I have an extra 15 pounds to lose... People say it's best to work out firs thing in the morning and THEN eat a few hours later, but I do sports (wrestling) and my wrestling practices are 3-5 and 6-8. Can I still exercise during my eating window times? This is something I cannot change. Please let me know!

Thanks!

Haha isn't the whole point of IF to skip breakfast right upon awakening? I'm doing the 16 hour fast and 8 hour eating window so I decided to do a 1pm-9pm eating window, bc I have to study late at night anyway. I can still lose weight by doing this, right? I plan to eat right after practice anyway. Thx!

Actually it really does not matter much.

Although there are benefits to exercising fasted, and benefits eating post-workout.

The main thing really is how well your perform in the activity fasted, which you will have to try yourself.

If you can try and shift your eating window to later. I've had to postpone my first meal until after 4 or 5 PM or later without issue, despite a pretty physically demanding day job that preceded my workouts. Check out Paleo for Fighters for some good tips for active individuals, especially ones who may be cutting weight on occasion, it's pretty cheap on Kindle.

Hey Elisa, great question.

The best way to do Intermittent Fasting is to make it fit in with your lifestyle.

You can try and do the fasting during your wrestling practice.

So instead of fasting through the morning just fit it round so you're fasting through practice. 3-8. Just have a small meal when you get home after practice, after 8pm.

If you struggle for energy doing practice while your fasting then sip on a protein shake or some BCAA's through your training.

Hope that helps, any questions let me know :)
