Intermittent Fasting and Working Out

I've just started intermittent fasting and am hearing different things when it comes to working out. Should I just do one HIIT a day while my body is still in fasting mode, or can I do more than that later on in the day, and if so when would be the best time to train/do another workout: After I break my fast or a few hours after my fast? Appreciate the help!

Hi, I am only 4 days into IF and had no idea that more than a 24 hour fast could be done. Right now I do 11am to 7pm. So stay fasted for 15 hours.

That definitely makes sense, I just thought there was a way I could mess up and then not lose weight or ruin my system or something. But I'll record how I do week by week for at least 2 months and go from there. Thank you for the advice!

@lucy_727 I should clarify that I'm doing a juice fasts and not a pure fast or water fast.

@lucy_727Its really up to you. How long is your fast? 3 days, 5, 7? My first fast was 3 days. I felt like crap for 2 of them and so I didnt work out on any of the three days. So it depends on how your body detoxes. And detoxing is like peeling of layers of crap. One day its a headache the next day its a runny nose and the next day its something else until your finally "detoxed" and feel better or you break the fast. Like right now I'm on a 7 day fast. I'm on day 6 of a fast and today is really the first day I felt up to walking for 30 minutes. So you just have to go through and see how you feel. Best of luck!

From what I have seen on youtube it seems that it's an individual thing. Some people find they feel dreadful if they work out before breaking their fast, some people prefer it. I suspect the short answer is to experiment with different timings for say a week at a time or longer, record both results and how you feel, then draw conclusions as to personal efficacy. I'm only 5 weeks into my health journey so can't profess to be an expert, but the more I read the more I find experienced people saying to try and find what works best for you individually when a consensus is not clear :)
