Can someone explain fasting while on the paleo diet. How is it done? Explain it to me like I'm a ding dong.

It's also something I wouldn't do until your in the position to really experiment. Not trying to lose weight, heal something, achieve a specific athletic goal, etc...

It's not a necessary part of the paleo diet

I tried this, and I was a big fan of it, until it bit me.
It essentially consists of having a really big meal in the evening. One of the reasons it bit me is because I was still trying to lose weight, so I underestimated the really big meal. Some people talk about having a window of time in the evening in which they eat because you've got to eat enough, and it is hard to eat it all at one meal.

Much depends on what your goals are and how much control you have over your environment. It is better to get black out curtains for your bedroom and reduce artificial light at night, if you haven't done that yet.

If you check out the links above, you'll see some guys in great shape, but these are also athletes. Guys who diet to show off their six pack, not guys who are trying to get to a reasonable BMI. Unless you feel you are already close enough to were you can play at their level, reserve the word 'fast' for an occasional thing. Also, they aren't necessarily paleo in their out look, though I think Ari (warrior diet) is pretty close.

There are so many different fasting protocols you can choose from:

"Eat Stop Eat" is known for a 24 hour fast a couple times/week. "Warrior Diet" has a 20 hour fast followed by a 4 hour "feeding window". "LeanGains" follows (for men) a 16 hour fast and an 8 hour "feeding window".

Do the research and see which works best for your lifestyle!

Easy fasting: eat when hungry.

IF: pick an 8 hour window, eat you calories during that window
