Since a few weeks I'm doing IF to lose a few pounds by just skipping breakfast and eat regularly (paleo) lunch and dinner. I don't eat more, I don't snack. The result is that I'm not losing weight but instead I'm gaining it. How can I understand what I'm doing wrong?

Gaining strength or starvation mode, not sure what else. 1600-1800 calories is pretty frugal for your size unless you lay on the couch all day. I lost initially with IF and then leveled off on scale weight but gained muscle mass. You could try changing the proportion of fat/protein/carbs in your diet.

beats me? unless you are gaining muscle, which is a possibility i guess, as your macro ratios have probably changed a bit &/or your hormones levels/rhythm have changed ?

Yes, since for lunch and dinner I eat what I used to eat... and I'm skipping breakfast. I guess that this counts as "eating less".

I started paleo more than a year ago, IF a month or so ago. I'm 177lbs, 5'10", male, 31. I always eat paleo with one/two cheats per week (as I used to do before doing IF). Calories around 1600-1800 per day. I kept the same eating habits and lifestyle, except I'm skipping breakfast.

How often are you weighing yourself and how much are you gaining? "A few pounds" is easily the difference between when I wake up and after I eat dinner, or how much water I've been drinking lately. If you're consuming less calories and you're burning more, it should all work out unless hormones/stress/environmental factors are messing you up. Maybe instead, eat a large breakfast, double up your exercise (duration & intensity), cut back on your dinner portions, and throw in some yoga / meditation.

Did you start Paleo & IF at the same time? Starting two things at once makes if hard to isolate. It could be your body adjusting to the new regime. Also if you are female, many say that IF doesn't work as well and you might be going into starvation mode and adding weight. Probably need your full set of facts, weight, hgt, sex, age, food eating, calories, etc.
