"Breakfast is the most important meal of the day"?

Hi all,

Over the past week and a half I've been trying out intermittent fasting to see its benefits. I've just been having coffee for breakfast then having all my calories in the day in lunch and dinner so my eating period is roughly between 13:00-21:00 depending on how late I eat.

My question is, assuming that the benefits of IF are true, what is my response to "isn't breakfast the most important meal of the day"? What are the main points to bring up? What can be gained? What is lost?

Thanks Tom

For me it's the one I'm eating right now. ...Anyway, yeah I just read the meditation thread... ;)

This article might give you some talking points about breakfast:

For me: the most important meal is the one I'm going to eat next.

I think there is some truth to this, despite it being a conventional wisdom standby. If I skip breakfast I feel 'off' for the rest of the day even if I eat more calories in lunch and dinner to compensate. I think its that sleeping=fasting. You wake up and its been 8 hours maybe more since the last time you ate anything.
