Are there best and worst foods for when a fast is over?

I'm most interested in what are the foods to avoid when finishing a fast, but along with that would go what foods are best when finishing a fast.

I'm not trying to lose weight anymore necessarily; though a bit of a belly cushion remains, people think I'm nuts to bother worrying. I fast intermittently for the health benefit generally (maybe helping adding muscle with exercising).

So, what's Paleo foods are best avoided when ending a fast?

16 to 24 hours, depending if I go from 6pm dinner to noon lunch the next day or dinner to dinner.

I fast daily with anywhere from a six to nine hour eating window, and I just break my fasts with a normal meal. In the past, when my fasts were longer ad less frequent, I liked to end a fast with bone broth containing well cooked veggies, maybe with an egg or two cooked right in the broth. The key is easily digested foods, which tend to vary from person to person...so play around with different meals to break your fast and you'll find what feels nourishing and energizing to your body!

Eggs are good fast-breaking foods, if you tolerate them.

I wouldn't worry after a 24hour fast about what to eat, I'd just try and avoid eating too much.

I wouldn't make complex protein your first meal as your muscles are begging to be replenished with glycogen. I like tossing blueberries into a blender with water and ginger (and maybe some BCAAs).

My fasts so far have ranged from 14 to 44 hours. In that time frame, I haven't needed to do anything special in terms of re-introducing foods.

I normally do coffee in the morning, with heavy cream and a little honey, so that's how I break all my fasts. That seems to gently tell my GI tract that calories are on the way and, when I eat at mid-day, all things behave normally.
