Do low carb diets actually increase insulin resistance?

Mark Sisson claims that a compensatory mechanism releases excess insulin or some gobbledygook when you eat a low carb diet. is there any truth to this?

physiological insulin resistance, not pathological. mark "sisson" not "sassoon."
