Nutrition and healing achilles/soleus tendonitis

Curious about others experience in proper healing of an achilles injury. How long does it usually take to recover from this type of injury? I have made gains, but at what I feel seems like a slug pace. I am also curious if nutrition can hold back the healing process. I am mostly paleo, but will have occasional non-paleo foods. Thank you for any suggestions on this

Get the Trigger Point therapy Handbook and apply it. Lacrosse balls years before Kelly Starett. Bottom line is get to touching it.

Thanks Matt. I do get some massage therapy at PT, but only 1-2 times a week. I am not in Atlanta. Is self massage as effective?

Interesting Travis. My supplements right now include 4,000 iu of Vit D, Fish oil, vit B complex, glucosamine, and calcium with another 1,000 iu Vit D. Would you recommend coming completely off of Vit D and adding K2? What is mk-7? Thanks.

I second Travis's vitamin recommendations.

But for the achilles, I would say that specific rehab is more important. Achilles injury can come from acute injury (e.g. from playing soccer) or chronic troubles (e.g. from having tight hamstrings). I've had achilles issues on both sides, and have found a decline board for regular calf stretching particularly helpful. Physical therapists are usually pretty good at this, as I'm sure you know...where's that Pieter D guy from this board?

Get some massage massage therapy. Are you in the Atlanta area? Resolve the spasm in the muscle and you will be on your way. Diet works, but is slower. Get a physical intervention and then all other therapies will work better. Nutrition is the loong way.

This blend helps http://www.biosynergy.com/biosnp-inflammation-antioxidant-supplement-formula I have had most of these ingredients (individually) when I got injured last month, and it helped my foot heal faster. In fact, since I started taking some of these supplements, I stopped being sore anymore.

Vitamin C and K2 deficiencies are probably most likely to be holding back proper collagen synthesis. I ran into some tendon issues that I realized were the result of a K2 deficiency that arose due to excessive D3 supplementation. Once I halted D3 intake and increased intake of mk-7 to about 360mcg a day, healing finally occurred.
