Survey: Have you gotten a cold or been ill while on 100% Paleo?

I'm doing a small survey just for documenting purposes. The question is have you gotten a cold or been ill while on 100% Paleo?

and if so do you incorporate raw:

veggies? how much? fruit? how much? cultured foods? how much?

From what the studies show a lack of raw fruits/veggies and cultured foods compromises the immune function of an individual and I'm just looking for more specific real life data to support this conclusion.

Even the best chickens do lay a dud now and then, so I can't complain too much.

Yes, local eggs. Not my typical source though.

Were they pastured local eggs? I thought those were so clean you could shoot them straight into a vein! (note to self: stop shooting up eggs).

I have noticed my immune system is warding off every bug since we started Paleo in mid-January. My family hasn't been sick much (they aren't strict paleo) and I haven't been sick at all but have on occasion felt like I might be coming down with something but it usually goes away quite quickly within about a day or two. I mostly get headaches from foreign foods such as gluten, oats, or dairy if I cheat on those. I hate headaches so I don't cheat much.

As for what I eat, mostly cooked veg, especially at breakfast. It's random though during the rest of the day. However when it's warm we usually have salad stuff.

We divide our plate - 1/2 is dedicated to veg, a palm sized amount of meat and a small portion of fats whether it's avocado or something in the salad like EVOO.

I got one mild cold a few weeks ago- sore throat, runny nose, nothing too bad. I blame it on that I started work at a hospital the week before. I eat raw fruits, but not usually raw veggie and the only cultured food I eat is some (usually greek) yogurt.

Now you mention it, no I haven't been ill! Its been about a year now and I HAVE been ill with stomach problems but they're pretty much all from eating non-paleo foods... But actual colds etc. none at all :)

I eat a LOT of salad, I love it! And I include veg in every meal I eat, either as a side to whatever meat/fish I'm having, or I love putting lots of veg into a stir-fry :)

no sickness/colds since going Paleo in Nov.

No raw vegetables except salad stuff. No fruit because I really don't like it. I eat tons of cooked vegtables, cabbage, green and red peppers, onion, carrots, cauliflower, broccoli, zucchini, eggplant. I eat mostly ground beef, pork, salmon for protein.

No respiratory ails. Did have one bout of food poisoning, probably salmonella, from eggs.

Yup, gotten both colds and flu while Paleo, though neither has been very bad. Can't guarantee I was 100% Paleo during those periods, but I am both gluten and lactose intolerant, so I wasn't eating most of the common immune suppressors during those times. May have been excess sugar or alcohol that did it.

Tend to cook the majority of my veggies, while most fruits are eaten raw.

Cultured foods: during the periods I was sick, greek yogurt and that was it. Added kefir into my daily routine in May or so and haven't been sick since, but cold/flu season hasn't come around yet again either.

Maybe one cold in the last 2.5 years since going paleo. During major cold and flu seasons a may have 1 or 2 days where I just don't feel 100% myself (minor soar throat in the morning, a little less energy, a minor headache, mildly stuffed nose, or something like that), and I think that is the extent of the "sick" I get. Most people probably wouldn't even think twice about these type of symptoms since they are so minor.

Majority of the vegetables I eat are slow cooked in the oven, frying pan, or microwave (lunches for work). I usually will eat fresh salads in the summer, or when I have to go out for a meal somewhere. I find raw vegetable are much harder for me to digest.

No colds, no ills since going Paleo 2 years ago. I have not been sick at all.

Raw Vegetables. My raw vegetable consumptions averages aroundt three times per week, usually in the form of a salad. Most salads are at least three cups of vegetables.

Fruit. Almost daily in a smoothie (unless IF); usually 1/2 Cup to one Cup.

Fermented Foods. Lots of Kimchi and Sauerkraut, almost daily, three times per day, around 1/2 cup total per day.

Hope this helps.

Yes I've been sick. Paleo does not make me super human. ;)

Raw veggies are eaten daily, the amount varies. Some days it's just a salad, other days I snack on raw veggies all day. I eat fruit seasonally, meaning generally lots in the summer, very very little in the winter.

Cultured foods: plain yogurt regularly, sauerkraut sometimes when I make bratwurst. Kombucha fairly frequently as well.
