Sugar cause cold/flu?

Hi there! When I eat paleo, even with lots of safe starches and fruit, I am totally untouchable. My immune system is amazing and we never catch what's going around. Well, this past week I decided to indulge in some ice cream and now I'm stuck at home with a slight fever, runny nose, sneezing 2 or 3 times in a row, and just wiped out. This happens every time I 'cheat' with sugary treats. What gives?

Sugar does turn off the immune system at something like a few hours for each tablespoon.

You might also be actually reacting to the milk in the ice cream, rather than suffering from a cold as runny nose is usually a symptom of dairy intolerance.

The good thing is that now you know, so you can stay away from these.
