Hi guys,

I'm 20, having the worst IBS and I just can't take it anymore. I'm running 20-30 times a day to the toilet and, no matter what I eat, it never stays in my body. I got migraine, so much pain and no power left anymore. Besides, I'm writing my finals next months, but I can't even stand properly for a whole minute atm. I really tried EVRYTHING anyone ever recommended and I'm just done. Are there anywhere real good specialists on this topic? I don't care what it would take to get there, but I really need help very soon, it's killing me :(

i have no idea WHERE the inflammation is.. i even tried eating home made yoghurt but then the other day i had terrible diarrhea so i stopped, but i'm takind probiotics at the moment. i'm also seeing a doctor in march who i hope will give me remicade or anything like this because it worked on alot of people, but i'm taking salofalk (kortison i think) at the moment and it doesn't help so i'm afraid it won't have any effect on me too :/

Hey,

I'm also 20 and have been suffering from IBS, GERD, and a peptic ulcer for the past 5 yrs. I went to MANY doctors and got nowhere, until I went to an allergist. It turns out I'm allergic to a ton of my favorite foods. I've been avoiding those foods for about 2 wks and supplementing with 100 billion probiotic, and feel 100% better. I take it 1-2 times daily on an empty stomach and I also drink kefir before best (also on an empty stomach). I would give those a shot because chances are the doctor will think it's all in your head and give you pills to shut you up (been there, done that). This is the best I've felt in yrs, so I'm going to stick with this regimen. Good luck!

When you say you "had allergies tested", what kind of allergy test did you take? The standard prick test will not find all allergies, it only finds IGE (immediate onset anaphylactic type). I highly recommend trying an elimination diet, which is the only accurate way to test for all types of food allergies/sensitivities.

Also, have you tried the SCD (simple carbohydrate diet)? Many people with similar type problems have reported great results from it. See - http://www.amazon.com/gp/community-content-search/results/ref=cm_srch_q_rtr/?query=crohns&search-alias=community-reviews&Go.x=0&Go.y=0&idx.asin=0969276818

Unfortunately I don't know any good IBS docs, but I hope this helps.

i know your problems all too well. the only thing that helped me was remicade (it eventually stopped working). are you on any meds right now? have you been diagnosed with crohn's- where in your digestive track do you have inflammation?

the only things that have helped me a lot with this disease were bovine colostrum (stopped my bleeding) and SCD yogurt. i'm sure it would be hard for you to make yogurt if you are living at college. i started humira 1.5 weeks ago but had a reaction to it so i don't think i'll be taking it again.

also, i haven't met a GI specialist that doesn't treat with the typical meds. that's just how they are trained and most use the typical pyramid of meds- 5asas, steroids, immunosuppressants, biologics. they are as clueless about the disease as we are. naturopaths have failed me time and time again, but if there is a good one out there, i haven't seen him.
