Hey guys, hope you are all doing well in your pursuits on paleo. Whether they are a healthier body composition, better self image and all other goals you may be chasing to achieve.

Just had my second weigh in this morning and was really suprised at the weight loss. Ofcourse the initial stages of weight loss are the most dramatic in terms of results as we lose quite a bit of fluid.

My problem is that i find i am not hungry at all in the morning or the earlier part of the day. I can even skip breakfast and not eat up untill 3pm in the afternoon. I am at a point where i can have 2 meals a day and feel quite content. I do for some reason though become extremely hungry during the Hrs of 7pm and 8pm. Its as if it is a switch that someone turns on to punish me (lol) At 9pm though, and beyond i am not craving food at all.

Would you guys have any suggestions?

Thanx in advance

Ps. I know this is totally unrelated to paleo. But how do you get your picture on your profile instead of that silly, abstract generic one? Thanx :p

I agree with the comments below to eat if you are truly hungry. If it's cravings, drink a bunch of water or go to bed. You have to use the avatar site to get your pic on PH. It walks you through what you need to do, then your pic will show up shortly after.

I think the 3 meal/day was the result of industrialization, right?

Why would your body trigger you to eat when you are tired? Wouldn't it trigger you to go to sleep instead? Wore out for the day = HUNGRY doesn't make sense to me. Could be right, just seems counter-intuitive to me. Still, interesting thought.

do you eat when you get hungry between 7 and 8, or are you waiting it out until 9?

Our culture dictates that we eat at certain times of the breakfast, lunch and dinner, this is a man made schedule. Our bodies are smarter than our minds, our bodies, if healthy and are allowed to will tell us when we require food and this is not always on a set schedule. I generally skip breakfast, eat around 2 pm and again around 7pm most days as this is when I am actually hungry. Some days I am hungry at the morning so I eat breakfast. I try to follow my bodies natural rhythm and signals.

I don't see anything wrong with your schedule if it works for you, other than it doesn't jive with the eating times of others (like family). I'm alway hungriest in the afternoon. I skip breakfast, eat a big lunch, and a moderate dinner.

Remember our conventional eating times are only a modern societal thing.

Congrats Nick on your progress!!

My first thoughts are that you can take advantage of the lack of hunger and IF until want to eat, and perhaps add a bit more fat into your meals and see if that shaves back the hunger pains at 7pm. Maybe eat that second meal at that time as well.

I often think that listening to your body is key, it just might be that that is your natural 'feeding time' and best to feed it all the good stuff you need at that time.

Congrats! My husband and I think the 8 -9 pm hunger rage comes from being tired your body is fighting to stay awake so triggers you to eat, or want to eat to keep you going. If possible fight the urge drink water and head to bed!

You could try an experiment where you skip lunch instead of breakfast. Grehlin levels build over the day and when you skip breakfast you can get hunger attacks at night. I think eventually you can work through them. If you can go without snacking then good for you however if you are going two meals and then caving to snacking it might be better to eat breakfast and then skip lunch. For breakfast I eat four eggs and 1-2 tbsp butter. THis can hold me through dinner easily. However I only skip lunch if I feel like it...
