I keep getting the suggestion to only eat when you're hungry. However, this can be a burden when it comes to my family's schedule. I have 2 kids (3 year old and 5 month old) who both go to bed around 7-7:30pm, but probably don't settle down until 8ish. So I am essentially forced to eat when I get home from work if I want to a) eat with my family and b) eat at a reasonable time before bed. So my question is: what do you do when you are necessarily hungry, but it's "dinner" time with the family?

I am in a similar situation. I am a stay at home mom to my 22 month old daughter and 4 year old son. I cook for my husband and children every day, but I only eat at the same time as them when I am hungry. I keep leftovers from prior dinners (i always make extra on purpose) so that I can grab some meat and veggies out of the fridge and eat whenever the mood strikes me. I actually find it easier to not be hungry during our sit down dinner time. That way I am free to talk to my husband, help my daughter eat, and keep up with the dishes. ;)
