Does a hot beverage stimulate your appetite?

I have finally found a tea that I love! http://www.amazon.com/Republic-Tea-Good-Vanilla-36-Count/dp/B001B2SY9U doesn't start up my heartburn in the am and tastes absolutely lovely (I dont add any sweeteners or cream - doesnt need it!). What I do think is that it starts up is my appetite. I have found this with all hot beverages whether they are flavored or not. before I could easily go til noon before thinking about food, if I drink a cup of tea 8am ish I seem to find that I am thinking about food earlier, more like 10:30, and eat sooner. which usually ends up with me eating more over the course of the day.

Wondering if its just my imagination - or if you have found this true as well?

For me, if I have a warm drink I feel almost as if I've had something to eat, and I feel satisfied.

Often, I have a hard time getting myself to eat breakfast because I've had a warm drink first, and then I don't feel motivated to cook.

Oh interesting! Not for me - the opposite. I find very satisfying.

I have one cup of toasty coffee in the morning, a cup of hot tea in the afternoon, then another tea before bed. Usually something herbal, minty or gingery, unless I have a cold then it's a toddy. So just something caffeinated typically once a day.

Growing up I would share a pot with my mum so it was more of a close to the meal or what have you, rather than something to kick it off I guess?

I looked at your tea and realized that its Rooibos. While caffeine free.. I have read conflicting things - some say Rooibos does not stimulate appetite.. others say it does. The book "Teas, Cocoa and Coffee: Plant Secondary Metabolites and Health" says yes. Curious! Is it all hot beverages that kicks your appetite into action or has it just been this new tea?

Mayhaps some N=1 is in order! :)

For me it's any clear fluid, but cold water is the worst. It seems to make me aware of how empty my stomach is. It makes me think I'm hungry, or perhaps more aware of my hunger.
