What is going on with my hormones?! Help please!!!

Hi!

I am a 26 year old female, 157cm tall + weigh 147 pounds (68kg). I have been Paleo for 10 weeks now with the primary goal being fat loss. I have eliminated all sugar, grains and dairy.

My daily diet usually looks like this:

MEAL 1 - 150g Kangaroo Meat + 1/4 avocado OR handful nuts

MEAL 2 - 3 egg fritata + avocado/spinach OR handful nuts

MEAL 3 - 150g turkey mince + green veges

MEAL 4 - 100g turkey mince or 100g salmon

MEAL 5 - 100g of seafood (prawns, fish, salmon etc) + mixed veges (cooked in tbl coconut oil)

I also have a 'cheat meal' once a week - usually buckwheat pancakes w/ maple syrup and cream.

Basically since I started this diet I have lost maybe 2.2 pounds only so not really much at all considering that I follow the diet pretty strictly. I have also not had my periods for over 2 months and I am ususally very regular. I am also starting to notice tiny little bumps on my upper arms.

Just wondering if anyone has any idea what is going on. Are my hormones totally out of whack? Is it the leptin? Has anybody else experienced this?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!!!!

You are malnourished. Its why your menstruation stopped. You need **heavy supplementation** : C,D,Mg,K2,Carnitine,Creatinine,Choline,Fish oil, Multi, B Complex.

I have lost 12 kgs since January by eating 3 meals a day with either two eggs or 90gr any kind of meat or fish in each meal and a BIG salad. In between I eat 2-3 fruits (apples 1 tsp w/almond butter, every now and then a banana). I lift weights 3 times 1hr a week and thats it. Maybe you are eating to much since you want to lose weight. My trainer told me to use the salad to fill up since its so low in calories.

Looks like a vitamin C deficiency is possibly developing based on the food choices, but I don't think that's necessarily related to the problems cited.

2 cardio sessions @ 40 mins each, 4 weight sessions. nothing too stressful at all and I have been working out like that for years.

There's something oddly comforting about seeing that you eat kangaroo for breakfast.

mY 10 cents:

  1. cut the cardio down a bit. You didn't say what kind of cardio you are doing, but 40 minutes seems long for a straight cardio session. If you do need the cardio, maybe make it more intense?
  2. drop you last meal. I'm guessing that if you're eating 5 meals, the last meal is close to bedtime. Maybe it's too close to bedtime? I don't think you're eating too much food, so you might try just redistributing meal 5 so that your caloric intake is the same among the 4 remaining meals.

A big change of any kind (including dietary change) can temporarily stop your menstrual cycle. As Meredith mentioned, stress is a big factor as well.

Are you supplementing at all? If you are experiencing Keratosis Pilaris, then you may be deficient in Vitamin D.

Many folks are deficient in Magnesium & Zinc as well.

Try to eat fewer meals--like 3/day.

That's 400g of solid meat you're eating there in a day. Nothing wrong with that but don't you want some variety? How about some bone broth and a big ass salad with raw vegetables (not steamed). Bone broth definitely breaks the routine of eating meat and nothing else. The first 2 meals will definitely constipate me if I ate no salad or bone broth.
