Is it possible to naturally change your body type?

There seems to be some debate about how hormones influence body type- some say a healthy woman is more of a pear or hourglass shape, and perhaps the apple shape is indicative of a hormonal problem, since that is a "man's shape."

Below you can see Iggy Azalea's fabulous pear shape, as contrasted by my tendency to carry my fat around the middle (love handles, pooch and back)

So here's my question, can my hormonal profile be naturally optimized to change my shape? I'm thinking exercise would never make hips bigger, am I wrong?

Well, I am a guy and I prefer your shape (and there are many more that will agree with me). Rock what you have!

My thought on that is you can't do "spot treatment" for fat...so increasing muscle in other places may help reduce overall body fat

I've tried high waisted stuff, and I haven't fallen in love with it. I have a few skirts that just need to be high waisted, but I always chicken out and change before leavingthe

thank you, I think the bottoms accentuate her shape, but with my shape, when I wear high-waisted stuff it's actually unflattering. doesn't stop me though, much to my fiancés chagrin.

PS: And I'm not a male trying to flirt with you or something. I'm a woman old enough to be your mother. You look great!

I have seen some suggestion that the tendency to put on fat around the middle has to do with too much omega 6 in the diet... omega 3 tends to put on weight around butt more. so you could try realy cutting back on the omega 6s, uppin the 3s, and exercising to get the current bits off. who knows, it might work

I think you look great. I also think how she wears her bottoms effects how her hips and legs look, she wears them up very high, so her middle looks smaller.

I'm gonna go ahead and guess that your hips...since they are bones..will not really increase with exercise. Honestly, you are in great shape and should not be worrying about small things like that. If you were to get close to that look, I would say focus on squats...heavy and in the 6-10 rep range.

But honestly...you look good. Just stay healthy and squat it up. Working on toning the arms/upper body could help with the fat carried in unwanted places as well.
