Friend's uncle had stomach removed (cancer), need high-calorie food ideas

He has a feeding tube but his doctors want to get him weaned off the tube as quickly as possible. He's having a difficult time getting the necessary 3K calories needed to gain weight so he can withstand the chemo treatment. He's also got a psychological aversion to eating anything solid, saying that food makes him gag.

I've suggested bone broths, whey protein isolate shakes (made with either full-fat dairy milk or coconut milk), adding butter and coconut oils to anything, and have him snack on nut butters.

Any other suggestions that could help?

What would you recommend for the protein, then? Keep in mind, that this all needs to be liquified so he can be fed through the tube.

I would add "raw" from a farmer he knows personally.

I would not go with whey protein isolate shakes. I agree with bone broth and coconut oil. As for butter... maybe ghee will be easier for him? I would give him a list of healthy products and let him try them. If his body is fine with those foods, he can keep eating them. If his body reacts, I would skip them.

How about heavy cream? It's quite drinkable, has a great taste, and is calorie dense.
