Hi everyone! I'm desperate to lose another 5-10 pounds before summer. I started out at 160 and am down to 130 from the last 6 months. I am a female, 5'6. I can't seem to lose any more weight. I think I may have even gained a pound or two in the last week, not sure how. My diet consists of: chicken, salmon, tilapia, tuna, flounder, salads with homemade dressing, hard boiled eggs, avocados, lots of veggies, etc. I eat 100+ g of protein, 70g fat and 40g of carbs or less. Any suggestions of different foods to add or eliminate? I haven't been to the gym too much lately either. Should I cut my carbs even more? Thank you for your help.

When I plateaued in my weight loss, adding a bit of carbs helped. I also like the idea of incorporating HIIT, on a compressed schedule that can help!

Emily: it also sounds like sleep is an issue. Correct me if I am wrong. But without adequate sleep, you're going to raise your cortisol levels which may keep some of the pounds on. But as mentioned by CD, congratulations for the 30lbs weight loss. You're in a good place. You may just be plateau-ing. And that's okay for a bit too. Your body can't just lose-lose-lose all the time. Lastly, look at yourself in the mirror rather than down at the scale. "An inanimate object that spends its life lying on the bathroom floor next to your toilet should not be given the power to break your heart."

I've been stalled for about a month. I started some weight training and do cardio about 3x a week. I try to get to the gym as much as possible but its hard with working OT and having appointments/stuff at night =/

sounds like pretty good weight loss, 30 lbs in less than 6 months? How long have you been stalled? What is your activity level?

One suggestion would be to incorporate some type of high intensity exercise into your routine. Sprinting is a great way to do this and could very well you improve your body composition. Notice I didn't say lose more weight...sprinting may allow you to lose a few more pounds of fat, while possibly gaining some lean mass, which might offset the number you see on a scale.

If you do begin to incorporate sprinting, take it slow at first...

On days you don't go to the gym make sure you go for nice long walks. Diet alone wont keep you in shape, gotta stay active too.
